A parent and educator turned mediation expert, Dr. Leick has served as a leader and advocate for parents, grandparents, baby boomers, students and educators for 27 years. With an extensive background in human growth and development, the learning process and building relationships, and also as a parent of a child with special needs who is now a very successful adult, Dr. Leick coaches across all generations helping clients to reach their potential, to realize fulfilled lives and to positively impact the world in ways that only they as unique individuals can.
A sought after expert in her field, Carolyn wrote and starred in a television program for students that appeared
on a PBS station in Nashville, Tennessee. Her articles have been featured
in newspapers across the state of Maine where she now lives.
Carolyn has worked with school children, parents, teachers, university students and the community
to deal with the tough issues facing today's kids including substance
abuse, emotional, physical and sexual abuse and child neglect.
Having taught in rural areas, inner cities, and in the suburbs,
Dr. Leick has seen the varying problems children face at every
economic level.
Her certification in Maine and in most of the fifty states includes
being a Certified Life Coach (CLC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Teacher, Literacy Specialist, Guidance Counselor, Principal,
Curriculum Coordinator and Superintendent.
Her
education includes a Doctor of Education (Ed D), a Certificate
of Advanced Study, and a Master of Education (M Ed) from the University
of Maine. Her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts) is from
Ohio Wesleyan University.
She has served in various community schools as a Principal and Curriculum Coordinator (Assistant Superintendent).
For six years, Dr. Leick served as a Adjunct Professor and Doctoral Assistant at the University of Maine.
In her community, she has served as a member of the Board of
Education for the university town of Orono, Maine and on the board of the United Technologies
Center (secondary school) in Bangor, Maine. Additionally, she serves on the Board
of Trustees for the Maine Grand Opera in Camden, Maine.
An award winning musician, Carolyn is a classically trained opera
singer who entertains children and adults as she teaches. Through song,
she uses the tone and hue of music to open hearts and minds. When
Carolyn is not coaching or speaking, she is hiking the small mountain
range along the ocean of Maine or entertaining guests with an
elaborate operatic scale. |
